The following is a press release:
OKX users can access Spark Savings USDT directly through the OKX app, connecting exchange-held stablecoin liquidity to on-chain markets
Spark, a digital finance protocol that intelligently allocates capital across on-chain markets, today announced the integration of Spark Savings USDT with OKX, enabling eligible OKX users to access Spark Savings directly through the OKX app.
How Spark Savings USDT Works Through OKX On-chain Earn
The integration brings Spark’s Savings and Spark’s Allocation Intelligence into a familiar centralized exchange experience. Users can subscribe with USDT through OKX On-chain Earn, without needing to separately connect a wallet, bridge assets or interact directly with DeFi applications. OKX aggregates user deposits and connects them to Spark Savings on X Layer, OKX’s EVM Layer 2.
Through the integration, OKX users gain direct access to Spark Savings, which benefits from Spark’s Allocation Intelligence across a diversified set of DeFi, CeFi and real-world asset opportunities. Capital is coordinated programmatically across approved venues, including lending markets, liquidity provision, RWAs and other approved credit strategies, within strict constraints defined by governance.
The system is designed around coordinated liquidity management, with substantial liquidity supported by the broader Sky ecosystem, alongside a layered loss-absorption framework intended to progressively absorb losses before they reach Spark Savings depositors. This gives CEX users simple access to a type of diversified, programmatically managed on-chain capital allocation that has historically been considerably harder to access directly from an exchange account.
Sam MacPherson, co-founder and CEO of Spark said: “DeFi has built increasingly sophisticated financial products, but accessing them still requires users to understand wallets, networks, liquidity and the protocols underneath. This integration changes that model. OKX provides the familiar exchange experience, X Layer provides the on-chain environment connecting that experience to DeFi, and Spark provides the allocation intelligence that coordinates capital across approved lending, liquidity and credit opportunities. The integration doesn’t bring DeFi complexity into the CEX experience; it brings the benefits of DeFi behind a familiar CEX experience. We think that abstraction is critical if on-chain finance is going to serve capital at the scale that already exists on centralized platforms.”
How Spark Savings Manages Liquidity, Backing and Risk
For every dollar deposited into Spark Savings, Spark borrows an equivalent amount of USDS through the Sky Allocation System Primitive, providing 1:1 USDS backing within the Spark Liquidity Layer. This structure gives Spark access to deep liquidity across the broader Sky ecosystem, while capital is coordinated programmatically across approved markets. Spark’s security framework combines dedicated liquidity buffers, constrained capital movement and a layered loss-absorption hierarchy designed to progressively absorb losses before they reach Spark Savings depositors. Vault balances, allocation activity and liquidity conditions are available on-chain, providing transparency into how capital is managed across the system.
Jason Lau, Chief Innovation Officer at OKX said: “OKX’s thesis has always been that the best of DeFi should be accessible to every user. Spark Savings is exactly the kind of product we want behind the OKX experience: a competitive yield and a risk framework built around transparency and governance. Routing it through X Layer into Onchain Earn means eligible USDT holders can access a meaningfully differentiated savings product without any of the traditional DeFi onboarding overhead. We see this integration as the right model for connecting the liquidity that already exists on centralized exchanges with the yield opportunities that onchain markets have built.”
Where Spark Savings USDT Will Be Available on OKX
Spark Savings USDT will initially be available to eligible OKX users across selected markets outside the European Union, subject to applicable local requirements.
The launch forms part of a broader collaboration between Spark and OKX to connect centralized exchange liquidity with on-chain credit markets, with further integrations under consideration.
