Stablecoins are moving beyond their traditional role in cross-border payments as global marketplaces and enterprises increasingly explore their potential in treasury management, customer wallets and integrated financial services, according to recent research.

The findings highlight growing institutional interest in stablecoin technology, with businesses seeking faster settlements, improved liquidity management and more efficient international financial operations.

The research surveyed 265 senior payments, treasury and finance executives from US-based marketplaces, platforms and enterprises generating at least $100 million in annual revenue.

According to the findings, 69% of respondents are already using stablecoins operationally, including 41% at meaningful scale. Meanwhile, 82% expect stablecoins to become part of their financial infrastructure within the next three years.

Stablecoin Adoption Delivers Operational Benefits

Businesses adopting stablecoins are reporting improvements in payment efficiency and international financial operations.

Among organizations currently using or testing stablecoins, 50% reported faster settlement times, while 41% highlighted improved access to international markets and currencies. Another 40% identified better payment experiences for recipients.

The benefits appear particularly significant for businesses operating across multiple countries.

Among organizations active in at least 11 countries, 82% reported measurable improvements across three or more operational areas, compared with 60% of businesses operating in fewer markets.

These findings indicate that stablecoins could help address longstanding challenges associated with traditional cross-border payment infrastructure.

Marketplaces Expand Into Stablecoin-Based Financial Services

Beyond facilitating transactions, businesses are exploring stablecoins as a foundation for developing new financial products.

The research found that 33% of respondents already offer stablecoin capabilities directly to customers, while another 50% plan to introduce similar services within three years.

Additionally, 92% identified treasury management and multi-currency balances as priorities, while 86% highlighted embedded customer wallets.

However, several challenges continue to affect broader adoption, including regulatory compliance, technical integration, transaction reconciliation and operational accountability.

Despite these concerns, 90% of organizations using stablecoins at meaningful scale indicated that the benefits justified the implementation effort.

Stablecoins Gain Importance in Global Financial Infrastructure

The findings suggest a shift in how businesses approach blockchain-based financial solutions.

Rather than viewing stablecoins exclusively as alternative payment instruments, enterprises are increasingly considering their potential to support interconnected financial services.

As regulatory frameworks evolve and businesses strengthen their digital payment capabilities, stablecoins could play a larger role in international commerce.

Their growing integration into treasury operations, marketplace platforms and customer-facing financial products signals a potential transformation in how businesses manage and transfer money globally.
