OKX-ICE Files With SEC to Launch 24/7 Tokenized Stock Trading Platform

OKXICE, a joint venture between cryptocurrency exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), has filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to launch a tokenized securities platform offering around-the-clock trading of U.S. stocks.

OKXICE Plans 24/7 Trading for More Than 60 U.S. Stocks

According to the filing, more than 60 listed companies will initially be available for trading throughout the week. The platform is designed to use blockchain-based representations of securities, potentially allowing investors to trade outside the traditional U.S. stock market schedule.

Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who serves as co-chair of OKXICE, described the initiative as a step toward a “truly global, 24/7 Wall Street.” The filing comes as financial exchanges and cryptocurrency companies increasingly explore blockchain infrastructure for securities markets.

SEC Innovation Exemption Opens Path for Tokenized Stock Trading

The SEC last month introduced a five-year exemption allowing companies to offer trading in blockchain-based, or tokenized, stocks and other securities. The regulatory change has helped create a clearer path for firms seeking to bring tokenized assets into regulated U.S. markets.

Major Exchanges Move Toward Around-the-Clock Stock Trading

OKXICE’s filing arrives amid a broader push by established exchanges toward continuous stock trading. Global operators including the New York Stock Exchange, Nasdaq and the London Stock Exchange are preparing to introduce round-the-clock trading initiatives in the coming months.

The move also comes as prediction-market platforms expand into U.S. stock-related products, attracting increased regulatory attention. That development highlights the growing overlap between traditional financial markets, digital assets and alternative trading venues.

Blockwind News ANALYSIS

The significance of the OKXICE filing goes beyond simply adding another platform for trading stocks. Tokenization could fundamentally change how securities are issued, transferred and accessed, particularly if blockchain infrastructure eventually supports continuous settlement alongside continuous trading.

The 24/7 model also challenges one of Wall Street’s most established conventions: fixed market hours. If investors can trade tokenized shares around the clock, access could become more global and flexible, but liquidity, pricing, settlement and investor-protection questions will become increasingly important.

For crypto markets, the development represents another attempt to move blockchain technology beyond speculative tokens and into regulated financial infrastructure. The involvement of ICE gives the project a direct connection to established market infrastructure, while OKX brings experience from the digital-asset ecosystem.

The bigger question is whether tokenized stocks become a genuinely new market structure or simply a blockchain-based layer over existing financial systems. The SEC’s regulatory framework and investor adoption will likely determine how far this experiment can scale across global markets.
