Mastercard and stablecoin infrastructure provider BVNK have launched the Mastercard Global Money Platform, a new financial infrastructure service designed to connect traditional currencies with digital assets and simplify cross-border payments for businesses worldwide.
Announced on October 15, the platform combines Mastercard’s global payment network with BVNK’s stablecoin technology through a single application programming interface (API). The launch marks the first major integration of the two companies’ capabilities since Mastercard completed its acquisition of BVNK in August 2026.
How Mastercard’s Global Money Platform Works
The platform allows banks, fintech companies and enterprises to integrate multi-currency accounts supporting both fiat currencies and stablecoins into their existing products. Its features include real-time currency conversion, stablecoin-linked payment cards and local bank payouts through Mastercard Move.
Businesses can also use the infrastructure to manage treasury operations, payments, settlements and liquidity without integrating separate providers for each service.
According to Mastercard, the platform is designed to address challenges faced by companies operating across multiple markets. Businesses receiving payments in different currencies often need to maintain separate accounts and prefunded balances, increasing operational complexity and tying up working capital.
The Global Money Platform aims to simplify these processes by providing a unified system for holding, converting and transferring funds across traditional and blockchain-based payment networks.
Mastercard Move Enables Stablecoin-to-Fiat Payments Worldwide
Mastercard Move, which supports money transfers across more than 17 billion endpoints, will enable users to convert stablecoin balances into local currency and transfer funds directly to recipients’ bank accounts. Coverage is expected to expand to more than 40 currencies across over 200 countries and territories in 2027. Users will also be able to spend stablecoin balances at hundreds of millions of merchant locations accepting Mastercard payments.
Payments company Nuvei and card-issuing platform Marqeta are among the first businesses expected to integrate the platform. Other participants include Ontop, Beem and Almond FinTech.
Mastercard Expands Stablecoin Infrastructure and AI-Powered Payments
The infrastructure supports six core functions: sending, receiving, converting, storing, spending and earning money. Mastercard also plans to introduce support for agentic commerce, where artificial intelligence systems can conduct transactions on behalf of users, and additional regulated digital assets, including tokenized deposits.
BVNK executives said the platform could help businesses develop global financial products without building complex payment infrastructure independently. Mastercard, meanwhile, views the launch as a step towards improving interoperability between traditional financial systems and digital currencies.
With the platform now available through BVNK, Mastercard is expanding its digital asset strategy, targeting enterprises and financial institutions seeking more flexible ways to manage international payments and settlements.
