Circle, the issuer of the USDC stablecoin, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Singapore-based cross-border payments infrastructure company Tazapay as it looks to expand its global payments network and accelerate the adoption of stablecoin-based settlement.

What Tazapay Brings to Circle’s Global Payments Network

The proposed acquisition will bring Tazapay’s network of more than 60 banking and fintech partners and local payout capabilities across over 100 markets into Circle’s payments ecosystem. The transaction is expected to close in 2027, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, including clearance from the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Tazapay provides cross-border payment infrastructure primarily to payment service providers and financial institutions. The company currently handles more than $25 billion in annualised payment volume and has built connections with local banking and payout networks across Asia-Pacific and emerging markets. Circle said around 60% of Tazapay’s transaction volume already involves stablecoins.

How the Tazapay Acquisition Could Expand USDC Cross-Border Payments

The acquisition is aimed at combining Tazapay’s local payment infrastructure with Circle’s USDC network. Circle believes this could help businesses move money internationally with greater speed and availability, while reducing reliance on traditional banking channels that can involve multiple intermediaries and limited operating hours.

“Stablecoin settlement is becoming core infrastructure in the global economy,” Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire said, adding that combining USDC with Tazapay’s banking relationships, local payout rails and institutional customer base could accelerate USDC adoption worldwide. Tazapay has already been working closely with Circle. The Singapore-based company became a design partner for Circle Payments Network in 2025. Tazapay CEO and co-founder Rahul Shinghal said the partnership would allow the company’s payment infrastructure to benefit from Circle’s USDC infrastructure and regulatory position.Circle said the acquisition will particularly strengthen its presence in Asia-Pacific and emerging markets, where demand for digital dollar payments is growing. The company expects the combined infrastructure to support near-instant, 24/7 cross-border payment settlement in more markets.

For existing Tazapay customers, the companies said there will be no immediate disruption. Services, APIs, pricing and customer support are expected to continue as they currently operate.

What the Tazapay Deal Means for Circle and USDC

The deal marks another step in Circle’s broader strategy to position USDC beyond a cryptocurrency trading asset and as infrastructure for global payments. If completed, the Tazapay acquisition could give Circle greater access to local payment rails and strengthen its ability to connect stablecoin liquidity with traditional financial systems worldwide.
