Binance is exploring opportunities to offer users exposure to stock markets in Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, and Brazil as the cryptocurrency exchange expands beyond digital assets and moves toward becoming an all-in-one trading platform.

Richard Teng, Binance’s co-CEO, discussed the potential expansion in an interview with Fortune on the sidelines of the TOKEN2049 conference in Singapore. He said the company is evaluating demand from users who want access to leading companies across multiple international markets.

According to Teng, customers have expressed interest in trading some of the biggest stocks listed in Asian markets and Brazil. Binance is assessing these requests as it looks to diversify its services and reduce its dependence on cryptocurrency trading.

Binance Expands Beyond Digital Assets

The potential move into additional stock markets follows Binance’s broader push to introduce traditional financial instruments to its platform. In 2026, the exchange introduced trading in tokenized US stocks and commodity derivatives linked to assets such as precious metals and oil.

Tokenized stocks represent digital tokens designed to provide exposure to shares or their economic value. Depending on their structure, they can offer investors an alternative way to access financial markets through blockchain-based infrastructure.

Binance has also introduced pre-IPO perpetual futures contracts settled in USDT, a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar. These products allow traders to speculate on the expected valuations of private companies, including artificial intelligence firm Anthropic, before a potential public listing.

The expansion comes as cryptocurrency markets face pressure following a decline from the highs recorded in October 2025. Lower digital asset prices and reduced trading activity have encouraged exchanges to explore additional revenue streams.

Crypto Exchanges Compete to Become All-in-One Platforms

Binance is not alone in pursuing this strategy. Coinbase has expanded into traditional stock trading, perpetual futures, and prediction markets as it seeks to build a broader financial services platform.

Meanwhile, OKX has outlined plans to offer tokenized shares in US companies through a partnership involving Intercontinental Exchange, alongside services focused on US dollar-linked stablecoins.

These developments highlight a growing convergence between traditional finance and the cryptocurrency industry. Exchanges that previously concentrated on buying and selling digital currencies are increasingly seeking to provide access to multiple asset classes through a single platform.

Regulation Remains a Key Challenge

Teng has also stressed the importance of regulatory clarity in attracting institutional investors and supporting wider cryptocurrency adoption. While early crypto users were often comfortable operating in an uncertain regulatory environment, larger financial institutions typically require clearer rules and compliance frameworks.

Binance has faced significant regulatory scrutiny in the past. In 2023, the company agreed to pay $4.3 billion in penalties and forfeitures as part of a settlement with US authorities. Teng subsequently became CEO in November 2023, succeeding founder Changpeng Zhao, who pleaded guilty to violating US anti-money-laundering requirements.

Looking ahead, Binance’s interest in international stocks reflects a wider effort to make financial markets more accessible across geographical boundaries. However, any expansion into additional markets will depend on user demand, product availability, and applicable regulatory requirements.

If successful, the strategy could help Binance strengthen its position in an increasingly competitive financial services industry while giving eligible users access to a wider range of investment opportunities.
