The layoffs come amid weaker digital asset prices, rising operating costs, and the growing adoption of artificial intelligence across the financial services sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>FalconX Announces 10% Global Workforce Reduction <\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to people familiar with the matter, the cuts have been particularly significant in Singapore, where roughly half of the firm&#8217;s local employees, including staff in sales, accounting, and senior management, have been laid off. The move reflects FalconX&#8217;s decision to reshape its operations in the city-state and focus on crypto derivatives trading, a business segment that does not require a local regulatory license.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sources said the company also plans to withdraw its application for a license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) as part of its revised regional strategy. FalconX, however, stressed that it remains committed to the Asia-Pacific market while reallocating resources toward areas with stronger growth potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement, the company said it is prioritizing key business segments while continuing to expand its regulated operations in Europe. FalconX currently operates offices in major financial centers, including Silicon Valley, New York, London, Hong Kong, and Singapore, and employed approximately 350 people before the latest workforce reduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Recent Acquisitions Fail to Prevent Workforce Cuts <\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The layoffs come despite an aggressive expansion strategy over the past 18 months. FalconX acquired crypto derivatives startup Arbelos Markets in early 2025, exchange-traded products issuer 21Shares later that year, and blockchain networking firm bloXroute in July 2026 to strengthen its institutional trading and infrastructure capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">FalconX joins a growing list of crypto companies that have announced job cuts in recent months, including Crypto.com, Coinbase, and Gemini, as the industry adjusts to prolonged market weakness. Bitcoin has struggled to recover after its sharp decline from record highs reached in late 2025 and continues to trade at roughly half of its peak value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Founded in 2018 by CEO Raghu Yarlagadda, FalconX has facilitated approximately US$2.5 trillion in trading volume for institutional clients. The company last raised US$150 million in a Series D funding round in 2022, achieving an US$8 billion valuation.
