The month-long initiative, carried out between <strong>June 1 and June 30<\/strong>, identified over <strong>130 individuals<\/strong>&nbsp;who were at risk of becoming victims of cryptocurrency-related scams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the Singapore Police Force (SPF), the operation was led by its <strong>Anti-Scam Centre (ASC)<\/strong>&nbsp;and <strong>Cyber Investigation Branch (CIB)<\/strong>&nbsp;in collaboration with major crypto platforms, including <strong>Coinbase, Coinhako, Gemini, Independent Reserve, OKX, StraitsX, and Upbit<\/strong>. This marks the third coordinated operation between the police and cryptocurrency exchanges aimed at combating digital asset fraud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Investigators used advanced blockchain analytics and intelligence-sharing techniques to detect suspicious transactions linked to a range of scam activities. The identified cases included government official impersonation scams, fraudulent investment schemes, and fake job offers\u2014three of the most common scam categories targeting individuals in Singapore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After identifying potential victims, police officers contacted them directly through phone calls and in-person visits to warn them before they transferred funds or completed fraudulent cryptocurrency transactions. The timely intervention helped prevent losses totaling more than <strong>$2.9 million<\/strong>, underscoring the importance of proactive monitoring and rapid response in tackling financial crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The operation also extended beyond Singapore&#8217;s borders. Blockchain intelligence gathered during the investigation was shared with international law enforcement agencies, including the <strong>U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)<\/strong>&nbsp;and the <strong>Cybercrime Squad of the New South Wales Police Force<\/strong>&nbsp;in Australia. The collaboration aims to strengthen global efforts against increasingly sophisticated cross-border crypto scams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Singapore Police Force noted that scams continue to evolve in complexity and scale, making cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the private sector more important than ever.
