{"id":12890,"date":"2026-11-05T00:48:38","date_gmt":"2026-11-05T00:48:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blockwind.io\/hk-en\/?p=12890"},"modified":"2026-11-05T00:49:02","modified_gmt":"2026-11-05T00:49:02","slug":"stablecoins-move-beyond-payments-as-marketplaces-build-new-financial-services-report-finds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blockwind.io\/hk-en\/stablecoins-move-beyond-payments-as-marketplaces-build-new-financial-services-report-finds\/","title":{"rendered":"Stablecoins move beyond payments as marketplaces build new financial services, report finds"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">5<sup>th<\/sup> November, 2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By Anjali Kochhar<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Businesses are using stablecoins well beyond cross-border payments, for treasury management, digital wallets, stored balances and card products, according to <em>Stablecoin Steps Up<\/em>, a new research report Payoneer (NASDAQ: PAYO) launched at Money20\/20 USA in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The survey, conducted in September 2026, polled 265 senior payments, treasury and finance leaders at US-based marketplaces, platforms and enterprises with annual revenue of US$100 million or more. All respondents were using, piloting or evaluating stablecoins, or had previous experience with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of those surveyed, 69% use stablecoins operationally, including 41% at meaningful scale, and 82% expect the technology to become part of their financial infrastructure within three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Where the gains show up<\/strong> <strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among organisations using or piloting stablecoins, 50% report faster settlement, 41% cite better access to markets and currencies, and 40% point to a better experience for payment recipients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scale and reach strengthen these results. Companies with significant operational stablecoin activity were more than three times as likely to call the technology very valuable as those still in the pilot stage, and supported about four use cases on average, against fewer than two elsewhere. Of businesses active in 11 or more countries, 82% report proven, measurable benefits in at least three areas, compared with 60% of those in ten countries or fewer. Firms with very complex cross-border operations expect to expand across every use case faster than the wider field, with the widest gap in supplier and contractor payouts (82% against 54%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Payments teams are the main internal drivers, named by 48% of respondents as the strongest source of motivation, followed by finance and treasury teams at 41%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Beyond payments<\/strong> <strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A third of respondents already offer stablecoin capabilities directly to customers, and another 50% plan to within three years. Treasury and multi-currency balances are a priority now or within three years for 92%, and embedded customer wallets for 86%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For treasury teams, stablecoins allow funds to move and settle at any hour, including outside bank hours, which can shorten settlement delays and free up working capital tied to payment operations. Marketplaces can also offer stored balances, wallets and cards through their own apps, with regulated partners supplying the bank, licence and compliance functions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Renata Camera Santos, General Manager, Wallet Business, Monetization and Innovation at eBay, said the opportunity depends on a clear business problem, such as lower costs or faster, more global payments. \u201cThe technology needs to deliver practical value for businesses and their customers,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Hurdles remain<\/strong> <strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report names integration, reconciliation, regulatory readiness and clear provider accountability as the main challenges in the move from pilots to everyday use.
