However, the sharp increase in funding does not signal a broad-based startup revival, as investment has become increasingly concentrated in larger deals involving established companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Southeast Asia Crypto Funding More Than Doubles in 2026<\/strong> <strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The region recorded only 25 funding rounds through the first eight-plus months of 2026, compared with 46 rounds in 2025 and 206 at the market\u2019s 2022 peak. The growing gap between funding value and deal count suggests investors are favoring mature blockchain and crypto infrastructure businesses capable of attracting substantial institutional capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Crypto.com\u2019s $400 Million Deal Drives the Funding Surge<\/strong> <strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A $400 million strategic investment by Citadel Securities into Crypto.com accounts for nearly 60% of Southeast Asia\u2019s total blockchain funding this year. The investment valued the Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange at $20 billion, with Crypto.com planning to use the capital to expand into tokenized securities and derivatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Excluding the Crypto.com transaction, the region\u2019s other 24 funding rounds generated approximately $280 million. Tracxn also highlighted a $100 million Series D for Edena Capital and a $50 million Series A for Startale among the larger deals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Crypto Financial Services Lead Southeast Asia Funding<\/strong> <strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Crypto financial services emerged as the leading funding category, attracting $498 million across 19 rounds, up 48.4% year over year. Tokenization and fractionalization platforms raised $114 million, while decentralized application development platforms received $77 million and blockchain networks attracted $49.5 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Singapore continues to dominate Southeast Asia\u2019s blockchain ecosystem, accounting for 82.5% of the region\u2019s $6.2 billion in cumulative blockchain equity funding. The city-state is home to 2,285 of the 3,957 blockchain companies tracked by Tracxn, or nearly 58% of the total.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Southeast Asia Blockchain Startups Face a Series A Bottleneck<\/strong> <strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite substantial funding, startups face a significant Series A bottleneck. Of 1,323 equity-funded blockchain companies in the region, only 167 have reached Series A or later. Just 50 have completed Series B, 14 have reached Series C, and four have progressed to Series D or beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Exit activity also favors acquisitions over public listings. Tracxn recorded 43 blockchain acquisitions across Southeast Asia compared with only four IPOs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Overall, the 2026 funding figures point to a maturing but increasingly selective market. While capital has recovered from 2025 levels, investment remains far below the $2.2 billion record set in 2022.
