The statement recognises that digital financial innovation, including digital assets, has the potential to contribute to broad-based economic growth, while also highlighting the importance of effective oversight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rather than proposing a single new global rulebook for cryptocurrencies and digital assets, the G20 has focused on creating clearer pathways for innovation within existing national and international regulatory structures. Member countries have committed to advancing responsible and effective frameworks that preserve financial stability, support economic development and provide greater clarity for digital financial and digital asset innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The move is significant for the crypto industry, which has long faced uncertainty caused by fragmented regulations across different jurisdictions. A greater focus on regulatory clarity could help businesses, investors and financial institutions better understand how digital asset products can operate while addressing risks linked to market stability, consumer protection and cross-border activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Stablecoins Remain a Key Focus for the G20<\/strong> <strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stablecoins were also an important part of the discussions. The G20 said it is awaiting further work from the Financial Stability Board on the cross-border implications of global stablecoin arrangements. The review is also expected to examine the availability and quality of stablecoin-related data, which could play a key role in shaping future regulatory discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, the group reaffirmed its commitment to improving cross-border payments. G20 members called for progress on expanding the operating hours of large-value payment systems, wider adoption of the ISO 20022 data standard and smoother cross-border transmission of financial services-related data, subject to domestic laws and data-security requirements.
