The initiative, supported by major international and regional banks, is designed to improve the efficiency, transparency, and security of gold transactions across the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Centralized Gold Clearing and Settlement System Launched<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The newly introduced platform is operated by the Hong Kong Precious Metals Central Clearing Company (HKPMCC), a government-owned entity that provides centralized clearing and settlement services for over-the-counter (OTC) gold trades. By reducing counterparty risk and streamlining transaction processing, the system aims to create a more robust infrastructure for institutional investors, bullion dealers, and financial institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The launch forms part of a broader strategy by Hong Kong and Beijing to strengthen the city&#8217;s position as an international financial center while expanding the global role of the Chinese yuan.
