The initiative reflects the regulator\u2019s growing recognition that blockchain-based technologies could play a transformative role in the future of U.S. financial markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Establishing a Principles-Based Regulatory Framework<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The draft outlines the SEC\u2019s intention to establish a strong regulatory foundation for the digital asset industry through what it describes as a \u201creasonable, consistent, and principles-based\u201d approach. The agency noted that blockchain technology has the potential to modernize financial infrastructure, improve efficiency, and expand access to financial services across the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For years, crypto companies and investors have criticized U.S. regulators for providing limited guidance on how existing securities laws apply to digital assets.
